Motorola i890 Reviews

Very Disappointed!
Rating:

I purchased this phone for $140.03 w/a $50 MIR from Sprint 1.5 weeks ago. I received the phone on my front porch.

PRO'S:

Nice to handle and look at.
Small, razor-like.

CON'S:

Extremely complex in trying to set up contact information.

Each contact has 10 lines of entry 99% of those lines are for "other phone numbers."

Cannot type text as a "memo" for each contact (i.e. Misc text data to personalize each contact person, business).

Screen pretty small.

A LOT of complex set up required.

I currently have a Samsung Fin phone by Helio/Virgin Mobile. Sprint bought-out Virgin Mobile as of 5/25/10. I am being forced to purchase another phone. I've had my Fin phone for 3 years now and have more than 357 contacts with 5 lines of entry. I am EXTREMELY happy with Samsung Fin. They are being discontinued and Sprint does not carry.

I am very upset about this situation and have looked at 15-25 other phones, but had to cancel my Sprint service yesterday after 2.5 hours on the phone with Tech Dept. on "how to" set up simple things such as "clock, memo's, contacts, etc.), but since Motorola i890 is so new - no one knew how to do anything. Even Motorola rep could not assist much at all.

I am taking back to Sprint Corporate and will continue to shop around.

If you want much frustration, time & energy wasted, consider this phone.

Nice Phone
Rating:

Upgraded from I880.(great phone)My 880 is going to my Son. He get's poor reception at the NAVAL Base in Huenume CA.
Reception with the I890 is about the same as I880. The SD card is under the battery door. The door is a pain to get off. Phone is about the same size as the 880. Just thinner. External screen is bigger, internal is same size. Camera is facing you with the flip open. Don't like that. Calls are clear. The screen turn off after a few seconds. I use my phone at times to check time. All you have to do is push the PTT button and the outside screen lights up. Screen turn off when you are on the phone. Good for battery life. Phone is not to lite. It has a nice feel. Bottons are big. That is something that is getting rare. Easy to set up. Flip open and all icons are at bottom. Just go left or right. Switch on outside of phone to lock ext keys. Pleased with phone.
